my favorite dog eat dog moment of recent note:

Q: what is the largest nation in the americas, in terms of area?
A: um, *long pause*, (to rival contestant who chose her to answer this question) i hate you so much right now, *longer pause*, um, um, (to her gang in the "dog pound," for whom she needs to answer this question correctly) don't hate me, don't hate me, um *long pause*, um, okay, okay, i'm going to guess, um: asia?
Me: WHAT?!?!?!?! ASIA?!?!?
*The dog pound gives a collective sigh... some of them not yet realizing she's wrong, because the poor man's rebecca romijn stamos hostess chick is really drawing it out:
PMRRSHC: The correct answer is *super long pause* canada.
Me: Of course it's fucking canada. ASIA?!?!? Fucking ASIA?!?!?!. I'd have settled for any country in the americas... jesus, i would have settled for a fucking country!!! jesus.
RMLP: I thought rebecca romijn stamos was the poor man's rebecca romijn stamos.

you know how you go away from your everyday life for a while, on vacation, for example, and when you come back from your vacation or respite, or whatever, you find it hard to get back into the swing of things, maybe because you come back to a pile of backlogged thiungs you should've been doing while you were gone, which is why you went away in the first place, that is, to get away from the stuff that was already piling up?

well, it's happened to me. which is why i've been blog remiss, among other things, and why i've just generally felt somewhat out of the loop. not that i wish the vacation hadn't happened. after the initial unwind period, (which was, let's face it, intense), it ranks among the top vacations ever taken, but man o man, do i wish there was an easier way to get back into things. granted, i had a particularly hard time getting back, due to my office being moved to another location--somewhat half-assedly, i might add--and my work being left in the charge of a paralyzingly obsessive-compulsive and an addled scatterbrain yes-man, but why does it have to be so difficult.

oh lord, why?
